African Pride Shea Butter Miracle Bouncy Curls Pudding

Okay, so I've been working with African Pride's Shea Butter Miracle line for the past two weeks and have gotten some seriously mixed results. We all know the Buttery Creme was a major fail, so I switched to the Bouncy Curls Pudding halfway through the week and continued to use it throughout the next week.
I had the pleasure of trying this product in two different ways. The first time I tried it, my hair was wet from washing. My hair felt rough and dry when I applied this to my hair which became an immovable Brillo pad helmet once it dried. It was so bad, my twist-out had to be converted into a bun for the day. I had crazy curls void of uniform direction, frizz, crinkles...you name it, I had it.

As soon as I got home from work that day, I redid my hair with the same product, only this time I applied it to damp hair by spritzing and retwisting each section with more Bouncy Curls Pudding. My hair still didn't feel as smooth as I'm used to when I use my Bounce Butter, but I was pleased with the results once my hair dried.

This is Day Three and I have not had to reapply this product or redo my hair. And, I'm pleased with the curls. Bouncy Curls Pudding definitely holds the shape and curl pattern, and I have a little bounce. But, I don't have the shine I'm used to, so this will be getting one coil up.

Overall, Bouncy Curls Pudding isn't bad, but it's not great either. I'd keep it as backup in case I run out of my own hair butter, the amazing Wash Day Bounce Butter!

  1. This product brought my hair back to life!!! It was dry, frizzy, and brittle...I applied to dry hair and got instant results!!! I love it! I have no complaints!

  2. It is a lot better than the Buttery Creme, but still not as good as my own. I just miss having soft, shiny hair!!!!

  4. Ok, so I tried this product for a WHOLE week and have to give it two coils down. My hair was crispy dry and I had to apply this product three times throughout the week which is contrary to my low-manipulation regimen.

  5. Tried the buttery creme and it was ok. It didn't really moisturise my hair but it made it a lot easier to comb out after being washed. Bought the bounce ...pudding today cuz I'm thinking the 2 may work really well together. Was just wondering... how exactly am I meant to use it for transitioning hair? Bought it cuz it said it would work on hair thats being transitioned but I'm yet to see any favourable results.

  6. I am 3 months into transition, my hair is support dry and brittle, nothing has worked so far then i bought the bouncy curls pudding which is more like a cream than a pudding, i have tried it wet and dry and i love it.. excellent results both ways gave moisture to this thirsty hair. Different products will have different affects on different types of hair but this one here is a miracle on mine..

  7. I have been using this product for about a month. It is fabulous for my hair. I wash it weekly and I use it on freshly washed hair after it has air dried a little. The product is great! It makes my hair soft, curly and moisturized daily. I get a lot of compliments on my hair and I use the bantu knots with the product and it is wonderful! I would recommend the product to everyone. My hair is natural, I grew my relaxer out and it has been a year and a half.

  8. So happy I found this, but I add olive oil to it get the best effect. I buy this all the time (for the last 5 or so months) and mix 1/4 cup of olive oil into this product until it's smooth again. I have very thick 3B/C hair that is a little past my shoulders when curly (lots of shrinkage). If you have thick hair like me, generously apply it to a section at a time, finger-comb through the section, and braid or two-strand twist it. I usually put between 10-20 braids in. Put a scarf on, go to sleep, and when you take out the braids/ twists you will have perfectly defined curls with very little or no frizz. I use it about 3x a week with no buildup or flakes and i wash my hair on Sundays. This product (with olive oil added) changed the way i feel about my hair. My scalp is less itchy, my hair is soft and shiny, the curl is defined, and I don't have as many split ends. Try it with the olive oil added! You won't regret it!!

  9. Thanks for the suggestion of adding 1/4 cup of olive oil. Bought this yesterday and after taking it down this morning my hair was dry and had no sheen.
